God did make sex! So what’s the problem.

Although criticized for talking about sex inside the church I applaud the efforts of the Pastor of Cedar Creek for doing what is needed.  Below is a local pastor’s criticism from the Toledo Blade:

Rev. Andrew Edwards, pastor of Northwest Baptist Church in Toledo, said church is not the place to talk about sex. He voiced strong opposition to CedarCreek’s campaign, saying that discussing sex with teens would make them more likely to engage in it because it would “stir up their emotions.”

The pastor criticized CedarCreek for “letting the world dictate what they do instead of the Bible.”
“What they’re using is the sensual, not the spiritual,” Mr. Edwards said. “I oppose what they do. I don’t think what they’re doing is going to help. They’re just using it to market to teenagers.”

I think talking about God’s perspective about sex is a good thing.  I think Mr. Edwards is fearful to face the harsh reality that if we the church do not address sex and sexuality they, the youth will get there information from the TV, peers, and others that don’t have God’s will in mind.  The Bible says we will perish for the lack of knowledge.
So what do you think?  Do you think they’re just using it to market to teenagers?  Should sex be discussed in church or not?

A proverb a day: Proverbs 14:16 -Wisdom to avoid danger.

“The wise are cautious and avoid danger; fools plunge ahead with great confidence.”  Proverbs 14:16 NLT

It is a great thing to have confidence, but beware that it doesn’t keep you from doing your due diligence before heading into places you’ve never been before.  The proverb speaks of being cautious in order avoid danger, you can’t avoid what you do not see while you blindly run in.

It’s like going into a dark room.  The fool will rush in only to find himself on the floor after a few steps and tripping over an obstacle, but the wise man will feel the wall to see if there is a light switch, and take his time to walk slowly that his senses may be full aware of his surroundings.

That is what we are to do with the various choices we will make in life.  Instead of running full steam ahead only to fall flat on our face, feel around for the light switch, the Bible, the Word, the light of the world, and the light will guide you safely to your destination.

Be wise.
