If you lie, you will be caught…

Proverbs 19:5 states, “A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaketh lies shall not escape.”

So what are you trying to say Lance.  Hey I’m not saying it, this comes from the Word of God.  I believe it is saying plainly that those that lie will be found out.  Integrity is something very hard to get back.  I will do as my father told me.  Just tell the truth, because if I find out that you lied, your punishment will be even worse.  I heeded those words and told on myself often.  So much so that later in life my dad stated in response to my pondering politics, “No son, I don’t think you would be able to be in politics, many politicians have to lie, and you won’t do that.  You’re to honest.”, he told me.

I can only pray that his judgment of me stays true.  It takes the Holy Spirit to continue in integrity and positive character.  What you do when no one is looking is what really counts.  Lord forgive me, and strengthen me to be more like you.

Be wise.

A Proverb a Day: Proverbs 22:8 Have you sown any seeds of injustice?

“Those who plant seeds of injustice will harvest disaster, and their reign of terror will end.” Proverbs 22:8 NLT

These words leaped off the page at me early this morning and I couldn’t help but think of all the injustices that I’ve heard about in history books of times past and have seen even till this day.

Then I thought about the word, “Those”.  It’s a word that is inclusive of everyone and anybody.  “Those”, could describe the persons that terrorized the Indians of the Oregon Trail.  Or those who terrorized my ancestors for years with in the American slave trade.  It could describe how the Rich lorded over the poor and increasingly pushed them lower and lower with unfair laws and regulations, or those who in business cheated persons out of their wealth in order to gain more for their selfish gain.

I could go on and on about the injustices of the Jim Crow Laws, discrimination, wether it be racial or sexual, or the new one they’re using, age.  But it is easy to point the finger at those that hs done us harm, but what seeds of injustice have we sown in the lives of others?  Who did you cheat?  Who did you discriminate against?  Who have you harmed, even if it was just with words.

The seeds that we have sown, we will surely reap. Galatians 6, and this Proverb 22:8 says we will “harvest”, or reap disaster.  We shall reap a horrible end, if we sow the seeds of injustice.

So it is pleasing to know that the reign of terror will end, if you’re the victim, but if you’re the one who has sown these seeds, then be on guard, your end shall come.  We may not know the day or the hour, but the Proverb says it will end.

Has America sown too many seeds of injustice as a country to escape it?

Have the wicked investors like Madoff sown too many seeds of injustice to escape it?

Have you sown any seeds to injustice?

Be wise.

A proverb a day: Proverbs 21:13 Who’s crying now?

“Whoso stoppeth his ears at the cry of the poor, he also shall cry himself, but shall not be heard.” -Proverbs 21:13

This passage of scripture gives me warning not to turn away from those in need, but to hear their cries and respond the best way I can.  I do have a heart for the poor and want to see everyone taken care of, and I know scripture teaches that the poor will be among us always, but something in me wants to shatter that notion.  But just as Jesus was right with Peter denying him 3 times “before the cock crowed.”, I can know that that particular passage of scriptured will be fulfilled as well.

But in reading this proverb helps me to understand just because there will always be poor among us, doesn’t mean for me to go on as if they do not exist.  Something in me believes they, the poor, will always be there in order to give us, those that have, the opportunity to share and give of ourselves.  It grieves me to think even now with our healthcare issue, that there are people really believing that denying people access to healthcare will make our nation stronger.  To me those that oppose healthcare reform are those that are stopping the ears “at the cry of the poor,”.

See it’s the poor that is hurting, not those with money, not those with the jobs and healthcare, not those that own the businesses trying to keep it all for themselves.  Now I am not opposed to anyone doing well for themselves, setting themselves up and their family for success, by owning and operating businesses that bring great success.  I applaud those efforts, and seek it for my own family, but I do have a problem with those same people allowing greed to creep in so much as to turn their eyes away from the people in need.

Well I guess I don’t have to get all in a tizzy and yell obscenities in public places to get my point accross, all we have to do is wait and see the salvation of the Lord.  He said to those that do “stoppeth his ears at the cry of the poor, he also shall cry himself, but [he] shall not be heard.”

Be wise.

A proverb a day: Proverbs 21:1-Don’t fret God’s Got it.

This proverb has to be my favorite one at this time in my life.  It reminds me that I do not need to worry about anything.  I am reminded:  “The king’s heart is like a stream of water directed by the Lord; he turns it where ever he pleases.” Proverbs 21:1 NLT

This proverb just reminds me of how powerful, yet graceful my God is.  King James Version says:  “The kings heart is in the hand of the Lord…”, because of this fact.  I don’t have to fret about how those that govern this world, country, state, city, job, or where ever there is authority over me.  I can rest and be assured that God’s hand is in the midst.  He directs them in the way he wants them to go.

Sometimes I think by reading this that the king or leader has no idea why he may be doing what he’s doing, but because God has his heart in His hand he guides and directs it the way that he sees fit.  So even in these times I don’t worry about how the president or other world leaders think their going to run the world.  I am sure that God has it all under control.

Be at rest, be at peace.  God’s got it.
