Excited about church?

Sometimes I get excited about church, and then other days I feel defeated. The days I feel defeated are mostly because I am too busy trying to please men and women, but what gets me excited and ready to go, is the fact that I go to worship a faithful God, a God that is all powerful, a God that can do anything, and guess what? He loves me.

He loves me whether I please men or not. He loves me even though I may fall short of His standards. He loves me more than anyone ever could.

So keeping the latter in mind let’s get excited for worship.

A promise never broken…

I have been disappointed many times, by many people.  They say one thing and then do another.  Broken promise after broken promise can stifle your faith in people, but I know a person who has never broken a promise.

In the month of March I plan to read through, study and meditate on the promises of God.  God has not once broken a promise and it only makes sense to put my entire trust in him.  Will you do the same?

Read with me daily as I will post the promises of God’s via twitter and facebook.  You can follow me @lancelawshe .  The hashtags to use when commenting or to catch up if you missed any post will be #Godkeepshisword and #dayandnight

The 2 Things That Our World Depends On.

Matthew 22:37-40.  All day I have been meditating on these few verses and I have realized that these two commandments that Jesus shares with us are the hardest things to do in the entire bible.  To genuinly love God with everything you have and then on top of that love your neighbor as you love yourself.

Well we cannot do the second without first truly adopting the first great commandment.  For to love God, requires us to love others. Most people will find it hard to truly love others if they don’t first have a love for God and the things he represents.  The bible teaches in John 14:15 “If ye love me, keep my commandments.”  Reading that verse checks me everytime.  It makes me evaluate my life.  Not my past, because I do believe he has forgiven me for my sins, but it makes me evaluate my current life, my current choices and decisions.  In all my decisions do I keep his commandments.  In all my doings can I say I am loving God with all I have.  Can I say with every action I take, every word I speak that I am loving my neighbor.  Really everything depends on how I respond to these two great commandments.

What would the world look like if just these two commandments were followed?  Will you join the movement?  Love.

A father’s love…

Proverbs 3:12 reads, “For whom the LORD loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth.”

I use to believe my daddy was mean when he chastised me with the rod. I did not like getting spanked for what I did wrong, but if there was no consequences for my actions I took, my behaviors would not have changed.

Now I can appreciate what my dad did for me and better understand how my father in heaven corrects me. His ultimate desire is to get me back on the path he has for me. God loves his children and has a specific plan for their lives, if we would only listen.
