Made to cleave. Genesis 2:1-25

Why is there so much divorce?  So much separation?

I think the major issue lies when two separated beings decide to be together, or get married; they are two separate people trying to mesh as one.  In the process of becoming one flesh, things get uncomfortable and down right painful, that before the two can become one, they give up before the task is complete.

So how long does it take for a couple to become one flesh.  Well scripture didn’t say when Adam and Eve became one flesh.  I think we just assumed they did right away, but if we take a closer look at the text we will get a revelation.

vs. 24 says “Therefore shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.”

Now the scripture didn’t say at that moment Adam and Eve became one flesh, it said “they shall” be one flesh.  Meaning to me that they shall at some point in the future become “one flesh.”

Hmmm? Let’s study this text some more.  Let’s see if we can bring an end to this separation issue or at least give cause for understanding.

What do you all believe?

A proverb a day: Proverbs 13:20 -Are you with the right people?

“Whoever walks with the wise will become wise; whoever walks with fools will suffer harm.” -Proverbs 13:20

Who you associate with can make you or break you.  If you continue in this world hanging around the wrong people, “fools” it will do nothing but bring you down, but if you seek out wise counsel, and stay in communication with the right people you will become wise and consequently become more successful.

Let me encourage you to stay away from those that mean you no good.  Seek positive, wise, steady people to associate with, it will mean the world to your life.

Be wise.

I’ve been away…

If you have become a frequent reader of “A proverb a day”, I must apologize for being away these past 3 days. I had to attend two funerals over the weekend, so it has been a long one. I will continue to do a proverb a day and will pick up today with Proverbs 13:20. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

A proverb a day: Proverbs 9:13 -Men beware of foolish women.

“The woman named Folly is loud and brash. She is ignorant and doesn’t even know it.” -Proverbs 9:13 NLT

Proverbs 9 is a must read for men today.  I say this because I was once caught by a woman named Folly.  These type of women make everything wrong seem right, and if it had not been for the grace of God I might still be headed to my grave.  But because of Jesus Christ and His redemptive work on Calvary I am able to go forward to everlasting life because he has washed all my sins away.

Men my warning to you is to be careful when tempation comes.  Think before acting.  Know that your soul is not worth the few moments of pleasure.

Click on the link above and read the entire proverb.

Be wise.

A proverb a day: Proverbs 8:10-11 -The most valuable thing to obtain in 2009

“Choose my instruction rather than silver, and Knowledge over pure gold.  For wisdom is far more valuable than rubies.  Nothing you desire can be compared with it.”  Proverbs 8:10-11 NLT

People want so many great and valuable things in life.  They wan a nice big home, fancy cars, dream vacations, gorgeous spouses, fabulous jewelry, and everything else that comes with the life of the rich and famous.  They want all these things, but the proverb states all of “nothing”can be compared with wisdom from God, for wisdom is far more valuable.  Seek wisdom.

Be wise.
