A Poverb a Day: Proverbs 8:10-11 Nothing you desire can be compared with it.

“Choose my instruction rather than silver, and knowledge over pure gold. For wisdom is far more valuable than rubies. Nothing you desire can be compared with it.” -Proverbs 8:10-11
If I could get all the youth of the world to understand these words and apply them, education would not be an issue. Bullying would cease to be a national discussion topic, and the crisis of our urban communities would slowly vanish away.
The reason I speak about the youth, and I mean ages 6-12, is because people are constantly telling me to write off any body that is a teenager or older, because they are a lost cause. I don’t want to believe it, and I am truly an optimist, but the more I live and the more I see, the more those nay-sayers are becoming true.
So what are we to do? What are we to say to our youth or better yet, everyone? I believe we need to encourage all who live and breath to read and understand, and then apply these words of wisdom. Why? Because all the people I know are tying to obtain a piece of what’s in verse 18.
Verse 18 says, “Unending riches, honor, wealth, and justice are mine to distribute.”
Be wise.
Jena 6. Is it about race?

Recently in the news it has been reported that the Rev. Al Sharpton says that this case is not about race. I beg to differ. I would say it differently if I were in his shoes. I would say that it is not all about race, but race does has something to do with it. I feel to say it is not about race makes it easier to talk about. For race issues in america is taboo. Since slavery and the abolishment thereof we as American’s have walked a tight rope when it comes to talking about race issues openly. Years we have been trying to rectify the situation and erect the question “Can’t we all just get along?” Well can we?
I think ideally we can. It will take having the wisdom of Jesus and looking to the heart of a person and refuse to judge them based on the color of their skin.
So it this case about race? Yes. Is that all it is about? No.
I agree with what Jesse says below. As for people trying to sway his support for Sen. Oboma. I’ll let his words do the talking.
“I think Jena is another defining moment of the issue of race and the criminal justice system. This issue requires direct and bold leadership. I commend Sen. Obama for speaking out and demanding fairness on this defining issue. Any attempt to dilute my support for Sen. Obama will not succeed.” -Jesse Jackson
Jobe. Should he go to jail?
Posted by Lance Lawshe in Crime, Family, Inspirational on June 15, 2007
I sat and thought for quite awhile and have come up with the perfect sentence for this young man Jobe.
I think I would let him go scott free. Well not totally. He should serve some time in a juvenile facility as my one friends noted, but what I mean is, he would be better served if he received mercy. I think that would change his life for the better. No amount of jail time does any rehabilitation.
If he deserves hard time then I would say so does his mother. I know one has to make his or her decisions in life, but at the age of 15. I think the parents of any child (person under the age of 18) that commits murder should be the one ultimately responsible.
All I am trying to say is that this young man did not intend to harm that man, nor bring this kind of pain on his family’s life. It was and accident and he should be forgiven.
Many people ask me if it were you in their shoes what would you do. And I would still say what I am saying now. He is forgiven. I know he didn’t mean to do it, and I am certain he would be the young man cutting my grass every week trying to repay me for saving his life, when infact it would have just been God using me to spare him what the world says he deserves. Death.
And if we think about it that is what we all deserve, but God has given us the opportunity to live through one more day. I think the world that is living aught to thank him right now for that.
Thank you God.
