Have we lost our way?
Matthew 10:5-9 (MSG)
5-8Jesus sent his twelve harvest hands out with this charge: “Don’t begin by traveling to some far-off place to convert unbelievers. And don’t try to be dramatic by tackling some public enemy. Go to the lost, confused people right here in the neighborhood. Tell them that the kingdom is here. Bring health to the sick. Raise the dead. Touch the untouchables. Kick out the demons. You have been treated generously, so live generously.
9-10“Don’t think you have to put on a fund-raising campaign before you start. You don’t need a lot of equipment. You are the equipment, and all you need to keep that going is three meals a day. Travel light.
I believe now that this a scripture we followers of Jesus need to meditate on more often. If we don’t we can begin to think that our calling is bigger than the caller.
God gave his disciples specific direction in ministry, and we have to be aware to where and how God is leading us. He told us what we need in verses 5-8 and what we don’t need in 9-10, but some where along the way I think we switched it.
We have begun to seek the funding and ignore the power. We are more concerned with the equipment than the message and touching the lives of the untouchables.
Do you know where he is leading you? Do you know what he is calling you to do? Are you aware he has equipped you for your journey? God has given to us all we need to accomplish what he intended for us to accomplish, but it is up to follow his plan. What is his plan you ask? Where can I find it? It is in his word.
For he says, “I know what I’m doing, I have it all planned out-plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for.” -Jeremiah 29:11 (MSG)
