A Proverb a Day: Proverbs 17:17 Are you a true friend?

“A friend is always loyal…” says the NLT version of this verse.  So are we always loyal?  Do we stand by our friends and family as constant confidants or do we behave as fair weather friends?

I say if we want good friends to be loyal and to stick by during rough times of adversity, we have to be that kind of friend.  I thank God for all my close friends.  I would name them all but they know who they are.

Be wise

A Proverb a Day: Proverbs 15:1 Stop yellin’ all the time.

This is a proverb I think about when I am about to embark upon an argument with my wife.  I think to my self, if I say something crazy it’s just going to get worse.  So I pause and think on these words, ” A gentle answer turns away wrath,”  She probably hates it when I do it, but in the end all things simmer down.  Now if she would only do the same for me. LOL.

Let me encourage you, that when disagreements come about in any relationship, wether it be marriage, work related, etc., make sure to heed these words in order to keep your relationship from going south.  We’ve all witnessed it either first hand or via CNN.  Either way it’s not pretty.

Be wise.

A Proverb a Day: Proverbs 14:23 Stop just talkin’ and get to work.

Now this is the second day in a row that the word “work” has jumped out at me, and I love it.  I love especially the way it reads in the King James Version: “In all labour there is profit: but the talk of the lips tendeth only to penury[lack of money].”

This tells me again that it’s not about how much you talk about what you’re going to do, but it’s all about what you get about doing.  It is the doing that preceeds the profit.  It says, “In all labour…”, that means in all the types of work you do, what follows it, is profit.  From mopping floors to directing billions of dollars, if you’re working, you’re profiting.  It doesn’t matter at all if you just talk a good game, if you’re not playing the game and playing hard, your life will be headed for poverty.

So stop talkin’ and get to work.

Be wise.

A Proverb A Day: Proverbs 13:4 Do you want prosperity? Work hard.

Reflecting on this proverb today caused me to pause on this verse: “Lazy people want much but get little, but those who work hard will prosper and be satisfied.”

Just a simple statement, but so many of us fail to heed it’s direction.  Even I have been saying to myself over and over these few past weeks.  “Lance you’ve just got to work harder.”  In everything you do, we need to do it as if it were our last day on earth; as if it were a job to complete for God.  How would God rate your level of effort at your job? In your business?  In your home? As a spouse?  It takes hard work to maintain each of these relationships.  I thought I was doing okay.  I thought working smarter was better, at least that’s what I was taught.  I am not encouraging anyone to not work smart, but I am encouraging everyone to work harder.  Take a look at your level of effort, and if you can step it up, do so.

Remember there is a promise in the word today, “those who work hard, will prosper and be satisfied.”

Be Wise.

Do what you love.

There is no better feeling than doing what you love to do all day.  To use the God given talents that have been bestowed upon you gives you an added advantage in life.  There is no other person that does what you do, like you do.  You acting within your own purpose creates your niche in life.  Nobody else has the market on what you have.  Just step out and do what you love.

Just thought I would share.
