A proverb a day: Proverbs 24:17&18 Be careful, you could stumble too.

Read this proverb, and you’ll gain wisdom in dealing with your enemies. Now I see why Jesus told his disciples to pray for your enemies.
Be wise.
A proverb a day: Proverbs 23:4 What?! Don’t work to get rich!?!?

When I read this proverb for the first time, I probably didn’t want to apply it to myself. But I understand more and more each day the wisdom that lies with in these words.
“Labour not to be rich: cease from thine own wisdom.” – Proverbs 23:4
God is directing us in this way, not to keep us from anything but to give us a peace that passes all understanding. The world constantly bombards us with messages, business opportunities, etc., all promising us riches beyond our wildest imaginations, if we do this. If we joing this downline. If we obtain this degree. And I am not encouraging anyone not to work for what you desire, but I will encourage to do exactly what God asks of us. Don’t work just to get rich, but do a work that you love to do, and that impacts people. Because what we do for Christ is the only thing that lasts.
I am reminded by a quote I saw on facebook today, “Try not to become a man of success, but a man of value.” -Albert Einstein
I think God would even agree with this statement. Thanks Dawn Humphrey for sharing that bit of knowledge.
A proverb a day: Proverbs 22:7 Will you be a lender or servant?

“The rich ruleth over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender.” – Proverbs 22:7
I don’t know about you, but I am tired of being the servant to the lenders. What about you?
Be wise.
Made to cleave. Genesis 2:1-25

Why is there so much divorce? So much separation?
I think the major issue lies when two separated beings decide to be together, or get married; they are two separate people trying to mesh as one. In the process of becoming one flesh, things get uncomfortable and down right painful, that before the two can become one, they give up before the task is complete.
So how long does it take for a couple to become one flesh. Well scripture didn’t say when Adam and Eve became one flesh. I think we just assumed they did right away, but if we take a closer look at the text we will get a revelation.
vs. 24 says “Therefore shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.”
Now the scripture didn’t say at that moment Adam and Eve became one flesh, it said “they shall” be one flesh. Meaning to me that they shall at some point in the future become “one flesh.”
Hmmm? Let’s study this text some more. Let’s see if we can bring an end to this separation issue or at least give cause for understanding.
What do you all believe?
