A proverb a day: Proverbs 24:3-4-How to build a strong house.

“A house is built by wisdom and becomes strong through good sense.  Through knowlege its rooms are filled with all sorts of precious riches and valuables.” Proverbs 24:3-4 NLT

So many people try to put the cart before the horse.  In this case the horse is wisdom.

Everyone wants to have all the riches in the world and all the time to play with them as well, but when it comes down to it, they’re chasing after the items with having no place to keep them or share them.

This proverb teaches that “A house is built by wisdom…”, meaning that no other way are we able to build a house that stands with out it.  Think about it, even a physical house structure takes wisdom to earn the money to gain the amount needed to build the house.  Then you have to have ”good sense” to make it strong.  Meaning you have to continue to make right choices in order to keep it.

I think this proverb applies to more than just a physicall house as well.  It applies to a family, a business, and any things that requires God to remain.  I guess that pretty much covers everything, even our government isn’t exempt.  In order to build these entities you wisdom, and then you need good sense to make them strong.  Finally you will need knowledge to fill it with things useful to be impactful to the world.  What sense does it make to have all the precious things in the world just to have them.  If we don’t share them, then no one will really understand the grace that God has for everyone.

There is a gift that God has given to the world, and we are celebrating the fact around this time of year.  This precious gift was given to us to save our very souls from hell.  His name is Jesus Christ.

Not sure what the true date he was born, but he was given.

Not sure of the time, but he did come.

Not sure if you’ll believe me, but I know with out a doubt that just this gift is enough to fill me, and I just wanted to share Him with you.

If you want to know him pray this prayer:

Father,  I am a sinner, who needs a saviour.  I believe that Jesus Christ was born for the remission of sins.  He came and was crucified for me.  He rose in bodily form and now sits in heaven preparing a place for me.  I admit that I can do nothing to save myself.  I accept Jesus as Lord and Saviour of my life.  Forgive me Lord.  Love me Lord.  Thank you in Jesus name.  Amen.

If you prayed that prayer you are now saved and no one can take that away from you.

A proverb a day: Proverbs 23:13-14-What does the bible say about spanking?

Raising children is tough, but the bible gives us clear direction on dicipline.

“Don’t fail to correct your children.  They won’t die if you spank them.  Physicall dicipline may well save them from death.”  Proverbs 23:13-14 NLT

So many people challenge me on this topic of physically spanking your children.  They call it abuse, and the worse thing you could do to a child.  I couldn’t disagree more.  As I have stated in a previous blog, leaving your child to themselves causes more harm than a spanking could ever do.

I do take this scripture to heart, and not just to give me an excuse to spank my son, but because I think the Lord really desires for our kids to live, and live righteously.   Just think if I don’t spank or dicipline my child to guide him in a more perfect way, he’ll go his own way and make steps toward death rather than life.

What I usually say is I would rather spank my child now, than have an officer of the law have to do it later.  I think a child needs to learn how to follow the laws at home directed from parents before they can learn to respect authority elsewhere.

So let me encourage parents again.  If you spank continue to do so, but only if you have outlined boundaries and they know about them and they then choose to willfuly disobey or go outside those boundaries you’ve already set up.  If you’re not spanking your children.  I pray you take a second look at the scripture and ask the Lord for wisdom.
